2025 Bedford North Lawrence Guard Quincy Pickett Checks in with JMBP on Summer Ball and BNL Goals…..
JMBP: How Do you feel you played this summer?
Quincy Pickett: Personally this summer I feel like was one of my better summers. I feel like I shot the ball well and really evolved my game and facilitated the ball with my teammates. There is always room for improvement but overall I had a good summer.
JMBP: You played for the same program for years. What is it about the SCIBA program that you enjoyed?
Quincy Pickett: The SCIBA program was more than just basketball to me, it’s a family. My coach Damon was a big mentor in my development as a player. We have played together since 6th grade and I’m grateful for the friendships and memories I have with those guys. The SCIBA team and coaches are a big part of who I am and how I play today.
JMBP: We have watched you for a while now. Tell us how you developed into the 3 level scorer you have become?
Quincy Pickett: I’ve put a lot of time in developing my game from just shooting. Just repeating dribbling drills and finishing through contact and shooting has really helped my game. As well as defense and footwork. Confidence is a big factor and a big improvement in my game.
JMBP: Being a part of such a prestigious high school in Bedford North Lawrence. Talk about what it means to play here?
Quincy Pickett: Basketball in Indiana is just different, but especially at a school like BNL with the history of outstanding record breaking players and teams that have come before me. It is an honor to represent BNL on the basketball court, game after game. Tradition is a huge thing in our community and we have full support of the community behind us. That is something special and I do not take that for granted. One of the best things is seeing fans, grandparents, parents, people I don’t even know…come up to me in the store or at other places than the ball court and comment on watching our team play and compliment me personally on what I did during games. It’s really neat to know they pay such close attention to what we are doing with plays, defense, offense, on the bench etc. Overall, it’s an honor to wear a Bedford North Lawrence uniform and play a game I love.
JMBP: You are now a senior. Tell us what it is going to take for the team to be successful and what your role will be in that plan?
Quincy Pickett: The main goal this year is to win a sectional and everyone is committed to that. As a team I would say sharing the ball and just working together is going to be the main thing that will make us successful. My role in that is to go hard on both sides of the ball and facilitate for my teammates and myself.
